Spotify will be buckling down on their API access, creating new restrictions to those whom want to develop their own apps using client id's and secrets. Here is their official statement.
The problem, ofc, is that on February 11th, "Development Mode use will require a Spotify Premium account". This will greatly restrict any users ability to use this tool since they will be paywalling the creations of client and secrets.
I wanted to warn everyone and I notice the auth of this tool requires a client id and secret , OR, if im not wrong, a json Auth blob.
My question is, what can we do to make it so the new upcoming restrictions imposed by spotify wont restrict users use of this tool?
Is there or can there be a guide on how to capture an Auth blob json, instead of using client id and secret? If that is something that I assume to be possible and seperate/different than client and secret authentication?
Hope this info helps, obviously spotify is trying to shut this tool down.
Yeah, but this will only affect Spotify Free users. I have a Spotify Premium account, but I'll probably unsubscribe soon.
Hopefully, @spotizerrphoenix can add new download source (Tidal etc) to download the tracks. Let's hope the search function will still work.
You can't do anything about it... they've made a lot of changes to their endpoints and are now ensuring you can no longer stream content via the API without Spotify Premium.
This affects not only this app but virtually all Spotify scrapers and downloaders on the internet. We have Anna's Archive to thank for these changes lol
